THE WILDLIFE SOCIETY OF ZIMBABWE

The Wildlife Society of Zimbabwe (a registered welfare organisation, founded in 1927) aims to encourage all Zimbabweans, especially the young, to take an active interest in their wildlife heritage through conservation-orientated educational and research projects, co-operation with Government, local authorities and other local and overseas organisations as well as operating a Wildlife Emergency Fund for the times of national emergency.

CURRENT CONCERNS

Look around and you will see -

an increasingly degraded environment
a rapid decline in populations of endangered species
soil erosion
destruction of indigenous forests
pollution in all its forms
lack of comprehensive planning for land use
destruction of wildlife habitat
the misuse of pesticides and other poisons
ruthless exploitation of our resources for short-term profit.

REMEMBER

The world and its resources are finite
the resilience of its ecosystems in limited
the danger point has already been reached

THE CHALLENGE

to the present adult generation is to reduce the increasing pressures on the earth and its resources
to provide youth with an education that will prepare them emotionally and intellectually for the task ahead.

ZIMBABWE WILDLIFE MAGAZINE

Every member receives a copy of a professionally produced quarterly magazine, containing informative articles and news items on all aspects of the natural environment in Zimbabwe.
